About rotations

A hitch is one on-duty rotation before your time off begins. Equal-time schedules โ€” 14/14, 21/21, 28/28 โ€” split the year roughly in half, giving about 182 working days. Longer hitches (21/21, 28/28) are common offshore and international; 14/14 is the most common Gulf of Mexico and US land schedule. This tool assumes a continuous cycle across 365 days. See rig crew pathways for how rotations work in practice.
